Posted by admin on February 7th, 2010 and filed under free scholarships | 2 Comments »

I would appreciate if you would know of any scholarships, grants, or free programs that serve for certain people. :)

Some things about me are that I take medication for bipolar, im left handed, im persian, i speak farsi fluently, my major is nutrition, and i go to a community college with a gpa of 3.7.

So know of anything for someone like me????

there are a lot of websites that can help you find scholarships.

www.fastweb.com
www.zinch.com
www.scholarships.com
www.scholarshipexperts.com

There are so many, and I have found a lot of specific ones to me on these sites. So hopefully that will help. Good luck!

How does a private U.S. college or university recognize scholarships in accordance with GAAP?

University-granted full-tuition scholarships. Do they recognize the foregone tuition as revenue and then the scholarships granted as an expense? Or do they never hit the financial statements?

You can get info about such college scholarships and grants online here – scholarships.onlinewebshop.net

if you failed a college class using Pell Grant money, you attended all the classes, What happens ?

Posted by admin on February 7th, 2010 and filed under college grant money | 4 Comments »

Do you have to pay financial aid back the money you spent on the class?

No you don’t have to take the class over, you only have to take it over if its required for gen ed requirements or for your major or minor. (this is a not a financial aid regulation but an issue for your counseling office)

If you just fail one class nothing happens with fin aid. Your "overall GPA" for the semester is looked at rather than the one class. So if you are taking 6 classes, make A’s in all but one and an F in the other your GPA will still be above a 2.0 and you’ll be fine.

I’m attending NYU, and it’s really, really expensive. I need some scholarships. I had been using FastWeb, but it’s so spammy. Every "scholarship" is really just some promotion to sign up for. Where can I find real scholarships or grants?
