Adolph Rupp: Myth, Legend, and Fact DVD

What started as an interesting sports story has turned into a fascinating documentary on legendary University of Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp. Dick Gabriel of WKYT-TV (Lexington, KY) and the Big Blue Sports Network has produced the definitive modern-era report on the myths and facts behind Coach Rupp?s racist reputation.Gabriel?s documentary is a straight-on look at the accusations made against Rupp over the years supported by interesting, insightful interviews with many former players, coaches and friends of coach Rupp such as C. M. Newton, Larry Conley, former Rupp assistant coach Neil Reed and Jim Tucker, an African-American from Paris, Kentucky for whom coach Rupp helped arrange a scholarship to Duquesne University in the 1950?s.Adolph Rupp: Myth, Legend and Fact may change some people?s view of coach and at the very least provide documented fact behind the perhaps fictional racist image of one of the country?s greatest collegiate coaches.

Do you have to be enrolled in a university to apply for scholarships?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under university scholarships | 7 Comments »

I graduated in May of 2006. I have a baby boy and wanted to take 2 years off before I went on to college. So I’m not enrolled in any school right now. I want to start applying for scholarships as soon as possible. Do I have to apply for admission to a university first, or can I go ahead and start?

well thats interesting he can play basketball….. but to answer your question yeah you can start doing them now.. i would highly suggest you get an early start on them.. it doesnt hurt to apply! good luck..

to clarify, you can apply and be awarded scholarships, but they wont be sending any money, until you are properly enrolled in a school

Is the Jake Cutler Male grant money real?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under college grant money | 2 Comments »

I have seen many adds by a man named Jake Cutler who was supposively rewarded lots of college grant money from the government, for being a male. Has anyone gone to his site, filled out the forms and actually been granted money?? I dont want to get scamed.

Nathan:

I’d sure love to help you with this question, but when I went to look up Jake Cutler, the only prominent Cutler I could find is the Jay Cutler who plays quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Obviously, that’s not the Cutler who is promising college grants for males. If it is, then the Broncos aren’t paying him enough.

However, without even knowing the right Cutler, I can tell you for certain that John Doe Cutler’s grants are a scam. The federal government provides only one form of major grant program for individuals, and that’s the federal student aid program. Eligibility for the federal student aid program is not tied, in any way, to whether you were born with 2 sex chromosomes (xy) or only one (xx).

If you would like to read a warning from the federal government about this type of nonsense, I refer you to http://grants.gov/ , the internet gateway to all of the federal government’s grant programs. Click through to "About Grants.gov", and then "Who is eligible for a grant?", and you’ll find this passage:

"We have all seen them, late night infomercials, websites, and reference guides, advertising "millions in free money" Don’t believe the hype! Although there are many grants on Grants.gov, few of them are available to individuals and none of them are available for personal financial assistance."

Wish Mr. Cutler luck with the Broncos’ 2009-2010 NFL season, but don’t send him any of your hard-earned money. He’s pushing a scam. If he’d like to come here to Yahoo! Answers and prove otherwise, I’m always interested in learning something new.

Good luck – I hope that helped.

What is the best way to get a soccer scholarship in NCAA Div I men programs?

At what age should one be starting to go to these showcase tournaments (e.g. Surf Cup and Score at the Shore start at U12 or U13) and college camps start at an equally young age. Any benefits of going this young?

play for a highly competitive club team that travels all over the states and abroad, therefore you can be seen at the major tournaments. your high school coach can also help by contacting different schools or you can write to some and see what they require from you

Does anyone have a good online scholarship source for returning adult student?

I am transferring in the fall to ASU to complete my Bachelor’s degree and need a good online source for locating scholarships. Does anyone have a trustworthy site that provides current scholarship listings?

fill out the FAFSA..
from that you can get a pell grant, which for me paid for a year of school.
the results from that go to the school, and they should send you a list of scholarships, grants, and/or low interest loans, work study programs that youre eligible for.
