If I qualify, can I still get grant money, no matter what college I am going to?

Posted by admin on February 14th, 2010 and filed under college grant money | 5 Comments »

I want to become a nurse, I dont know what it would take to get a scholarship, I have a 3.9, participate in clubc, sports, and church.

But I probly will have to get a grant and I was wondering if it mattered what college I wanted to go to

No. It does not matter what college you wish to attend. If you are eligible for grants of any kind, they will go to whichever college you choose to go to.

Grant money given by my college?

Posted by admin on February 12th, 2010 and filed under college grant money | 3 Comments »

I had received around 30,000 grant money from my college and I have about 20,000 from scholarships. all i need to pay is around 40,000. will my college take away the excess amount of grant money or will i get a reimbursement?

As long as what you have received/are receiving does not exceed the COA (Cost of Attendance) of your school, then you should get a refund, as long as your school knows about the scholarships (did the financial aid office award the scholarships or did you bring them in from outside sources? If the FAO does not know about any outside scholarships, then they need to be informed so adjustments can be made).

You should talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information/guidance.

Good luck!

if you failed a college class using Pell Grant money, you attended all the classes, What happens ?

Posted by admin on February 7th, 2010 and filed under college grant money | 4 Comments »

Do you have to pay financial aid back the money you spent on the class?

No you don’t have to take the class over, you only have to take it over if its required for gen ed requirements or for your major or minor. (this is a not a financial aid regulation but an issue for your counseling office)

If you just fail one class nothing happens with fin aid. Your "overall GPA" for the semester is looked at rather than the one class. So if you are taking 6 classes, make A’s in all but one and an F in the other your GPA will still be above a 2.0 and you’ll be fine.

Swift Water Rescue Class

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010 and filed under college grant money | No Comments »

On Thursday, August 27, 2009 the Busch Gardens theme park in Tampa will host a swift water rescue training class. About 40 rescuers from fire departments around the State of Florida and their seasoned instructors will be given access to the Congo River Rapids water ride. This class will prepare these rescuers to use skills that could saves lives during urban flood and swiftly moving water rescue situations. The environment provided by the water ride gives rescuers as close to real life training as is possible in a controllable location. The arrangement between Busch Gardens and the rescue class is the only one of its kind in Florida and possibly the nation. The rescuers are members of Florida Task Force 3 (FL-TF3) and Central Florida Task Force 4 (FL-TF4). They are participating in a 40-hour Urban Flood Rescue class. The class is being conducted under the auspices of the Florida State Fire College using grant money provided by the Department of Homeland Security.

The class provides members of FL-TF3 and TF4 the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with widespread water flooding situations.
Florida has nine USAR Task Forces who are well trained and equipped to deal with structural collapses and other urban search and rescue skills. Adding the urban flood rescue specialty to the team will enhance and improve the ability of Florida to respond to local and widespread disasters.

FL-TF3 is composed of rescuers from Tampa, Hillsborough County and St. Petersburg Fire Rescues. FL-TF4 is composed of rescuers from Orlando, Orange County and Seminole County. The class is conducted by Safety Solutions Incorporated of Boynton Beach, Florida.

How do I get a grant or money for college?

Posted by admin on January 27th, 2010 and filed under college grant money | 2 Comments »

I did the MA training for 8 months, after a few years I realize there is not much more money to be made hourly with this position and it is not enough. I would like to go to LVN school but the price just sounds impossible…it is a good investment though if i could make a lot more money.
