It's not only less expensive there than a 4-year college, but the certificate or AA degree programs last only 2 years, and you can go to school in the evenings while you still work. Right now with the tight economy and recession there are several types of jobs not to even try to go into. The ones that are still available are in healthcare, teaching, the energy field, global jobs, computers, and jobs like plumbing and ac.
